Fantasia Ballet Folklorico performs many of the native folk dances from different regions of Mexico wearing a colorful array of costumes.
The group, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the Lansing area since 1996, exists to increase social consciousness of cultural contributions by Hispanics through the fine art of dance, music and costume. Dances represent the Mexican states of Colima, Guadalajara, Vera Cruz, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Baja California, Michoacán, Yucatan and Aguascalientes.
Fantasia Ballet Folklorico also aims to motivate young children, teenagers and young adults to develop discipline, self-esteem, respect and an understanding of the Hispanic culture. There are currently over 30 youth in the group, ranging from the ages of 3 to 21 years old.
